This is a thermocouple device, not a compressor-type like usual air conditioners, heat pumps, and refers. The thermocouple devices are inherently much less efficient and rather high amp draw, so this probably isn't something to leave on while the car isn't running- like while you're paddling. Note that amp draw isn't mentioned, and they also offer a low-battery shut-off device. Hmmm... I wonder a) if drained batteries are a problem and b)if the shut-off device reliably leaves enough charge to start the car? Well, if you need a jump-start, at least you can offer some tepid beer in exchange.

40 degrees C below ambient is about 72 F differential... should keep the beer tolerable, but I bet the beer has to start out cold.

Starting with cold beer and some frozen water bottles in a good cooler sounds more reasonable and versatile.
