The gondolas are way too tiny to handle a boat, so they hook a special platform car that can hold up to 3 boats onto the cable. It's a self-load and tie-down operation; the park doesn't want to be responsible for boats. After you reach the landing platform, you wait for your boat to come up on the next tram, then shoulder it for a short walk to the parking lot.

I’ve seen a few hellish takeouts in my day, so I was especially thankful that the steepest, longest one I’ve ever used had a built-in lift. Here’s a link to some pics of the tram. http://www.pipestemresort.com/
