Some other rivers that are between the LY and the LBS to think about:

Cheat at ~2.8+
Little Sandy into the Big Sandy
Cranberry (probably similar in difficulty to LBS, but roadside so less committing)
Kitzmiller @ ~4.5
Brush into Wills

Dgg mentioned the Middle Fork - Tygart which would be a great barometer. If you can style that and the bigger drops on the Tygart at a low-medium level (~3.7) then the LBS would be doable I think.

Both the Middle Fork and the Cranberry start to get near the 100ft/mile mark which I think is a tipping point regarding how a river feels. It'd be good to get on something with some gradient like that before doing the LBS.
