I’ve worked on some boats in which Liquid Nails or other hard-cured caulk gun adhesives were used. The adhesive power seems OK (PL Ultimate urethane adhesive is especially tenacious), depending on what was glued to what.

The downside is that Liquid Nails and the like can leave a razor sharp stucco-like residue behind if the outfitting is later removed. If the outfitting comes loose on the river that Liquid Nails stucco skin rasp will take off flesh and bone.

Removing that razor sharp stucco is no easy task eve in a well equipped shop (think very cautious use of grinders and sanders), whereas removing contact cement residue is fairly easy.
