Winter 2021 roll sessions.
On behalf of the CC&KC board, we are pleased to announce we were able to secure a pool for roll sessions. We will likely have 4 sessions, but we are starting out with three Saturdays:

Saturday Feb 13 4:30 - 7:30 pm
Saturday Feb 20 4:30 - 7:30 pm
Saturday Feb 27 4:30 - 7:30 pm

WHERE: Ephrata Rec Center located at 130 S Academy Dr, Ephrata, PA 17522

Your kayaks MUST be clean INSIDE and OUT prior to entering the pool! Airbags should be left at home as well as any other gear you normally store in your kayak.

Valley Mill - indoor pool sessions at the Rockville Municipal Swim Center at 355 Martins Lane.
2019: Saturdays 4:00-6:15pm: Starting November 9, 2019.

2019 Dates/Time: 4:00 - 6:15 pm., Saturdays.

PRACTICE SESSIONS: $20 per session (with own gear), $30 per session if renting VMKS gear.
(This DOES NOT include instruction.)

Buy a package of 6 PRACTICE SESSIONS for $100 (with own gear), or $150 (renting gear) (This
DOES NOT include instruction). You MUST use all sessions by the end of our schedule - no carry
overs into next year.

PRIVATE LESSIONS can be arranged by calling 301-948-0220. One session $80.00; Buy a three session lesson package for $200.00.

Space is limited, so call to sign up and pay be credit card over the phone -- 301-948-0220.
Payment in advance is required -- DO NOT just show up without reserving your space ahead of time

All boats must be cleaned out before entering the pool (there is a hose there at the pool for your use if needed).

Pool Rolling with Potomac River Outfitters   

Pool Rolling instruction and practice sessions in Alexandria, VA provided by
Nathan Nahikian and a talented team of ex NOC instructors. Open practice sessions
with tips from other paddlers and staff. Lessons for beginner through
advanced paddlers, kids and adults. Our goal is to teach the roll that suits
you, not the one that suits us; whether that be a sweep roll, c-c, sweep to
back deck roll and others. A small class size of 3 students per instructor in
an un-crowded and relaxed pool setting helps to maintain the highest quality
lessons and ensures that you get plenty of attention on your roll. Our expert
instruction will help you meet your goals quickly and effectively. We hope to
see you this winter!

-Individual practice pool sessions - $30

Calleva's Liquid Adventures Kayak School has been teaching rolling in the DC for over 25 years. Our team of talented instructors are directed by Tom McEwan who pretty much wrote the book on whitewater in the 70s. We teach the style of rolling that fits the student, while other school may fit the student to a style of roll. We teach C to C, sweep, off-side, hand roll, combat roll, and back deck roll.

Our team of instructor include Olympian Ashley Nee, Dagger team paddler Bobby Miller, Liquidlogic team paddler Steve-O, as well as many other world class instructors.

We limit our class size to 3 students per instructor, we also rent out the whole pool so that we maximize space.

Our pool rolling sessions are:

When: Saturdays 4-6

Where: Maderia School in Mclean, Va

What to bring: Classes include equipment rental, however you can bring your own boat and equipment if you prefer. Please remove airbags and wash your boat thoroughly prior to entering the pool. You should also bring a bathing suit and towel. It is recommended that you wear a fleece or polypropylene top. You may wish to bring nose clips or goggles.

Cost: For adults, Three, 2 hour lessons for $195 ($65/lesson). A single, 2 hour lesson for $75.
For youth ages 9-17, please register for Pool Rolling for Youth or Playboating for Youth ($40). Equipment and instruction included.
Open rolling practice sessions:
$20 for single session. Equipment rental for an open session is $20 per session for a boat, skirt, life-jacket and helmet (Equipment for instruction class are included in the price of the class).

Prerequisites: Being a competent swimmer.

Potomac Paddlesports - Expert instruction-- DC area kayak school & shop.

Looking to improve your bracing or rolling technique and make more friends somewhere besides Facebook this winter? Potomac Paddlesports invites you to join us at the world-class Audrey Moore Recreation Center Saturdays from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM for either lessons or coached practice time in a toasty-warm 300' pool. Our Founder and ACA award-winning instructor Sunny Pitcher will be personally coaching the practice end of the pool, offering video analysis and placing extra-special emphasis on proper bracing technique. The rest of our top-notch team of ACA instructors will be teaching lessons in the shallow end in a 1:5 ratio, structured lesson format. We guarantee that you'll make progress and meet friendly people at our indoor sessions!

Be sure pre-register and then arrive at the back door of the pool with a properly sized and outfitted kayak, paddle, pfd, skirt, helmet, and completed Waiver no later than 6:45 PM.

All boats must be clean inside and out.

Also be sure to get permission to join us for the post-pool libations at Killroy's!

Baltimore Canoe & Kayak Club;

Goucher College pool on Sunday evenings beginning Sunday, Goucher College, Towson, MD.
Directions: Take Baltimore Beltway to exit 27 - Dulaney Valley Road, Go South on Dulaney Valley towards Towson;
Goucher College is first left at bottom of hill. Follow the drive all the way around to the pool.   Look for all the boats
on the cars.   (If you haven't been there before, here's a link to a map of the Goucher campus: Campus Map.
The pool is building 19c).   Helmets are required in the pool.

Cost per session is $10 for BCKC members who have joined/renewed for 2019. (Annual Club dues are $20 per family/household. You can join/renew either at the roll sessions or online or by mail.)

In addition, if you are not a Club member, then - unless you are a member in good standing of the American Canoe Association (ACA) - you must pay a one-time fee of $10, which will buy you a six-month introductory membership to the ACA (including all ACA member benefits, including ACA's Paddler magazine).   Note that this is how we get insurance for the roll sessions.   Without the ACA we wouldn't be able to do this.
(If you are a Club member, the Club will cover the cost of your ACA introductory membership, unless of course you're already an ACA member, in which case you don't need it.)

Canoe Cruisers Association Pool Rolling

Winter 2021 Roll Sessions are cancelled.

What: CCA Open pool rolling

When: Tuesday evenings, 7:00 to 9:00 PM
The winter schedule is as follows:
Tuesday Nights Roll Sessions are cancelled.

Cost: Sessions are $20 per person per session. All proceeds go to CCA

Location: Piney Branch Pool, 7500 Maple Ave., Takoma Park, MD 20912.

**During inclement weather, if Montgomery County Schools are closed, pool rolling is cancelled.
